Yesterday my catch-all Gmail account reached the 92 % watermark, and I found it alarming. I had been looking time and again for effective ways to clean up, but none seemed viable as I had over 60,000 emails on file.

This is funny. Signed up for another Gmail and the mail to my secondary account was caught by Google’s own spam filter. It was sent from mail-noreply@gmail.com. And no, I did not add this to my spam filter manually (happened twice in a row, so it’s not a random fluke).
